Olga Maximova

Education:

2002-2007 – The Moscow State University named after M. Lomonosov (MSU), Faculty of Geography, specialization of glaciology and cryolithology.
Diploma thesis: Pingo and Palsa of South Transbaikalia.

2007-now – PHD student in the Glaciological Department of the Institute of Geography Russian Academy of Science.
Theme: Seven centuries long spruce tree ring climate reconstruction, Tien Shan mountains, Kyrgyzstan republic.

Work experience and additional education:

2006 – now – Laboratory assistant in the Glaciological Department of the Institute of Geography RAS.


    * Satino scientific student village (Central Russia region) (summer 2003) – Exploring practical side of the hole complex of basic geographical skills: geomorphology, biogeography, cartography, hydrology, meteorology, pedology, landscape science.
    * Caucasus mountains – Elbrus region (summer 2004, autumn 2005) - student fieldworks.
    * North Enisey region, Norilsk (summer 2004) – student fieldwork on cryolithology.
    * Transbaikalia, (summer 2005-2006) – fieldworks on cryolithology, working with material of libraries of Building Institute of Chita.
    * North Mongolia (summer 2005-2006) – fieldworks on cryolithology, study of culture and bicycle  tourism.
    * Baidaratskaya Bay, Kara Sea (autumne 2007) – fieldworks on geomorphology and hydrology.
    * Tien Shan, Kyrgyzstan (summer 2007, automne 2008) – fieldworks on dendrochronology. International rockslide school.
 
Area of interests: dendrochronology as one of the methods of climatological and glaciological reconstructions.

Main project I’m involved into:

Tien Shan, Kyrgyzia (autumn 2006 –  now) – construction tree-ring chronology, analysis with climatic data; reconstructing of climate by means of dendrochronology.
